February, 2020

Chase Parents,

February is the month to highlight Literacy and Kindness!

Chase continues to emphasize positive relationships and the importance of being respectful to one another.  We will celebrate Kindness Week, February 10th – February 14th; teachers and students will be involved in activities to promote kindness!  We want students to understand that in order to collaborate with each other academically, we need to be respectful towards each other, too!

Also, we are stressing the importance of Literacy! On Thursday, February 13th, at 8:30am, Kaiser Permanente is returning to present another bilingual performance regarding the magic of Reading. Each parent present will receive a free book. If 50 parents are in the audience, our school WINS free books. We hope you can attend! Likewise, we will have a FAMILY LITERACY NIGHT, on Thursday, February 20th, 4:30pm – 5:30pm. Finally, Chase is going to celebrate ‘Reading through the Genres’, February 24th – 28th. We will have our Reading Assembly on Friday, February 28th, 8:30am. Reading is magic!

Daily Attendance is the KEY!  Our Attendance Counselor, Ms. Pendence Jones is here on Mondays to assist you.

It is very important that you sign-up for the LAUSD Parent Portal. You are able to view your attendance and child’s grades; if there is a phone number change, you can change it through the Parent Portal. Please visit the Parent Center for assistance.

Also, please look for the District’s and Chase’s Parent Involvement Policy and Chase’s updated Title I School Parent Compact that you should have received during the break (mailed 11/20/19).

I ask that you please make sure your children read every day and study their math facts –make every day a learning day!

ALL Cougars are expected to be SAFE, RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE
